Privacy policy

The short version. You can use ForFreeAI without an account. Your chats are kept in your own browser, not on our servers. To answer you, your message is sent to the AI model you chose. ForFreeAI is free because it shows ads, so ad partners such as Gravity and Google may use cookies and see some of what you send. You must be 16 or older.
Who runs ForFreeAI
ForFreeAI (forfreeai.com) is a free AI chat run as a small independent project. In this policy, "ForFreeAI", "we" and "us" mean the people who run the site. "You" means anyone who uses it.
What data ForFreeAI collects
ForFreeAI does not ask for your name, email or phone number, and you do not need an account. We handle only what is needed to run the chat and show ads:
- What you type and upload. Your messages, and any file or image you add, are sent to the AI model you chose so it can answer.
- Technical data. Like every website, our servers and partners receive your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages you visit.
- Settings in your browser. Your theme, reply language, chat settings and the fact that you confirmed your age are stored in your own browser.
- Reports. If you report an answer or an image, we receive the report, the reason you chose and the content you reported.
Where your chats are stored
Your chat history is stored in your browser, on your device. Today's chats are listed in the chat, and older ones are cleared automatically. If you use "Save chat to device", the chat is saved in your browser in encrypted form and downloaded as a file that only you hold. We do not keep a copy of your chats on our servers. Clearing your browser data deletes them.
How the AI models get your messages
ForFreeAI does not build its own AI models. When you send a message, it goes to the company behind the model you picked, such as OpenAI (GPT), Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), Alibaba (Qwen), xAI (Grok) or Moonshot AI (Kimi), or to a provider that hosts that model. They process it to write the answer, under their own privacy terms. Do not send passwords, bank details, health records or anything else you want to keep private.
Ads on ForFreeAI
Ads pay for ForFreeAI, so you do not have to.
- Gravity. Ads in the chat come from our ad partner Gravity. To choose a relevant ad, your message and the AI's answer are shared with Gravity, together with a random ID stored in your browser. The ID is not linked to your name.
- Google. ForFreeAI may also show ads from Google, for example through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to ForFreeAI and to other websites. You can turn off personalised ads at Google Ad Settings, and learn more at how Google uses data in ads. You can also opt out of many ad networks at aboutads.info.
Where the law asks for your consent to ad cookies, for example in the UK and the European Union, we ask before they are used, and you can say no.
Analytics
ForFreeAI may use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and features are used, so we can make the site better. It uses cookies and collects data such as pages viewed, time on the site, device and rough location. It does not give us your name. You can block it with the Google Analytics opt out add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Other services ForFreeAI uses
- Cloudflare Turnstile. To stop bots, the chat may ask Cloudflare to check that you are a person. Cloudflare sees technical data about your browser for this.
- Google favicon service. The logos of the AI makers are loaded from Google, which receives your IP address when your browser asks for them.
- Hosting. ForFreeAI runs on Zeabur, which receives the technical data of every visit.
Cookies and browser storage
ForFreeAI itself uses browser storage only for things the site needs: your theme, settings, chat history, saved chats, your age confirmation and a limit on how many messages can be sent. Ad and analytics partners such as Google may set their own cookies, as explained above. You can delete all of this at any time in your browser settings.
Age limit: 16 and over
ForFreeAI is for people aged 16 and over. The chat asks you to confirm your age before you continue. If you are under 16, please do not use ForFreeAI. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has used the site, contact us and we will delete anything we hold.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct or delete data about you, to object to its use, and to complain to your data protection authority. As your chats live in your own browser, you can delete them yourself at any time. For anything else, contact us below.
How long data is kept
Chats in your browser are kept until you clear them, and the daily history is cleared automatically. Reports are kept only as long as needed to deal with them. Ad and analytics partners keep data under their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as ForFreeAI changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using ForFreeAI after a change, the new policy applies.
